Bonjour, merci pour les conseils

I have tried reinstallation and creation of a new user : it didn't work better just the same.

I have tried tazx (Ctrl+Alt+F2 , root/rootpassword, tazx)
when rebboting I had still "intel" driver loaded as Xorg log showed. (?)

anyway I manually modified /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-Device.conf
found that "fbdev" driver and "vesa" driver could also startx (a desktop)

I had no enough time to check whether problem still occur, by the way it didn't get wrong in the 10min I ran each. still need longer test.
but VLC don't show video properly, it seems that OpenGL/Mesa is missing; there's no "mesa" package for vesa nor fbdev as I saw in tazpanel. (I saw that in the forum)
therefore I may not choose this solution wich is quit restrive.

googling got me there : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=112749
I'm trying
Option "DRI" "false"
in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-Device.conf

i'll let know result of test on going

with default config I noticed this in the xorg log : Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration.

[ 18.293] (II) No input driver/identifier specified (ignoring)

Bonjour
Si j'étais dans une telle situation je ferais quelques tests pour essayer de savoir d'où vient le problème :
--> réinstallation de certains packages :
puis se loger en administrateur
$su
#tazpkg get-install slitaz-icon --forced
#tazpkg get-install slitaz-menus --forced
-> création d'un nouvel utilisateur -disons toto - se loger sous le compte toto et refaire les essais avec PCmanfm, VLC ..;
**** si tout fonctionne il faut remplacer tous les fichiers de configuration de l'utilsateur standard par ceux de toto
**** sinon, peut-être faut-il réinstaller Xorg : quitter X11 (Ctrl+F2) puis se loger en administrateur
$su
#tazx
et essayer un pilote qui fonctionne
En espérant que cela puisse t'aider.

Hi,

I'm discovering and enjoying Slitaz 4 on my Asus S5N.

I am having a trouble that I can't handle with.

well randomly, suddently display goes weird,

things written deasapears in windows
PCmanfm is the most obvious since everything written disappears, icon still there. Pcmanfm is respong though.
closing pcmanfm and restarting it don't fix.
VLC windows gets empty ,no more button nor text, anyway music still works.
restarting VLC fixes its display.
desktop background is also affected(see screenshot in the link below)
thunar is not affected by this, everything still written (but I use it only when problem occurs already)
tazpanel also has troubled colors, restarting tazpanel recover regular colors.
also the mousse don't change its shape when it should like when resizing windows, restarting openbox doesn't fix.

best descritpion is in this screenshot (187 ko)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3478420/goingwrongDesktop_Pcmanfm-NOK_VLC-NOK_Tazpanel-nok_Thunar-OK.png

when restarting openbox menus gets better but not what's within the windows.
my feeling is that both openbox and "gtk" loose configurations.

reboot fix it always for 3min or 3hours.

on Slitaz Live it does the same without modifications.

Xorg uses Driver "intel"
i915 module manages graphic

any idea or clue would be welcome.

en français aussi ça m'interresse si c'est plus simple pour vous.
Thanks
Xavier

>I also personally consider that the first Linux distro who will adopt Wayland will gain a huge audience. ;-)

Yeah. We always love the lack of drivers, instability and NIH syndrome.

Personally, I hate Wayland architecture. The main reason is using GLES2/EGL. I didn't want to explain why it's BAD.
The second - Wayland just reimplements Xorg with NO performance increases. All the stuff developers name revolutionary is just a copy of what already been on Linux desktop (directFB, DRI, Xorg).
And the latest - Wayland is monolitic. It's not KISS, nor Unixway. Just a bloated creation of someone's evil mind.

Putting a compositor and some other stuff inside graphic server (hell, why not just put it into kernel and deal with it) will not ever save us from some non-existant performance issues.

No it won't. I'll point out the main points to why:
1. It still uses the xorg drivers.
2. It only supports Nvidia, Intel and ATI cards. The rest of us will be out of luck.
