I just downloaded Trixar's package and tried to install, it seemed to work fine. Maybe you have a corrupt download? Can you post the complete error message?
the return was:
connecting to http://www.trixarian.net (69.89.31.206:80)
wget: can't open 'lxrandr.tazpkg': file exists
Wherever you are running the command, a file by the name lxrandr.tazpkg already exists. You will need to delete that file. What is the command that you are running anyway?
my apology, your reply reminded me of the previous downloaded file which did not work with tazpkg.
could be this non-working corrupted file was interferring.
after deletion, I can download the file but after installation, I can only get a choice of auto, 800x600 and 600x480. I was expecting to get a higher resolution.
I am running slitaz 3.0,
upon tazhw detect-pci, I get a return of something like (?)hdn--intel, although I suspected that it should be ATI.
so I choose intel at the xorg installation.
even though I cannot get a higher resolution, I learn a bit more about linux.
To find out what card you have, in a terminal, run:
$lspci | grep VGA
If it's Intel (or otherwise) refer to the relevant section in the following guide to configure your resolution.
Use the tazx command from terminal as root while online. Select the install option, wait for it to download the list and select intel and click ok. It should install the intel video driver. Now try lxrandr again. You should have more resolution choices now.
I was struggling with the resolution issue, experiencing some horribly moments, but finally resolved it.
I am sure all that had been exploring around must have experienced the horror of X not starting and was left with the text prompt.
the reason for my being there was lspci... returned ati tech (video card). So I went towards ati driver and followed the instructions of replacing vesa by radeon in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf
then the horror began because X did not start.
left with nothing and no help from the internet, I began to work my way back and tried to reverse what I had done from memory. I had tried so many alternatives that I could not remember exactly what I did, but basically I started the root and remove ...video-ati, and install ...video-intel.
no luck, so I reverse the radeon to vesa in xorg.conf, and got back into X.
once I was in X, I followed the instructions to insert the necessary lines in the xorg.conf
loging out of the x session, and I got 1024x768.

perhaps some one can help me with the printer.
the reason why I had to work from memory was that my installed HP printer did not stay for good and disappear frequently, so no printing hard copy to help me.
have to install the printer mostly when it is most needed.
was struggling, so missed trixar_za's response until now.
I have tried the intel driver before my computer black out, but still only got 800x600, so leading to my adventure and computer black out for hours.
So it's misdetecting as intel? Have you tried selecting the ati driver from tazx?
selecting ati from tazx and changing vesa to radeon were what led me into the black out.
it may not be a big deal to an expert, but for me to be left with a prompt, going no where and knowing so little about linux command, it was horrifying. of course, I can spend half a day to re-install the os, starting all over again.
now that I have 1024x768, I dare not touch the resolution issue again.
but I still have the printer disappearing to tackle.
