Hi Mojo, I did know the thread, no question, but I am surprised that it have to be the same kind of war each re-installation of the system. On old SliTaz as far as I can remember there was a item "printer installation", and I miss, and probably each new user, a clear and evident way to do that...
Is somewhere in one SliTaz site a recommandation available what SliTaz propose to do after installation of SliTaz 5 (in my case with 64 bit kernel) to access fast and without excessive planing, reading etc. to a system having the average capabilities of "usual" system (the choices of old version 1 or 2 was such a minimal set)?

perhaps
WAY 1: an info concerning cups, fax, and skype in file:///usr/share/doc/slitaz/index.html under subtitle "Office suite"
WAY 2: a menu item "get cups and set it up" in the menu under "preferences" (where it is after installation of cups) or / and "office" (where it is not else after installation of cups

Aleksej completely changed the cups packages.
http://hg.slitaz.org/wok/rev/77dc6129b023
Practically every depends was removed which auto-installs many packages required to setup cups.
-DEPENDS="libssl slitaz-base-files libgcrypt gnutls dbus jpeg libpng tiff zlib \
-libcomerr cups-doc libkrb5 libcomerr3 gcc-lib-base libusb-compat libtasn1 acl \
-poppler-apps cups-filters"
+DEPENDS="cups-filters libcups"
Now all those packages may need to be manually installed depending on what flavor of slitaz your installing cups on.
You have to manually install cups-docs to have access to http://localhost:631Posted 9 years ago # -
Oh, really sorry.
It is the side effect of the dependencies simplify. I used my own script for this, and seems it was trapped into circular dependencies:cups-filters -> ghostscript -> cups -> cups-filters
(Source: http://pkgs.slitaz.org/?depends=cups-filters )
I'll fix it ASAP, sorry again.

PS. Fixed: http://hg.slitaz.org/wok/rev/ce8561c19cb9
and ready for downloading:
http://cook.slitaz.org/cooker.cgi?pkg=cups
http://cook.slitaz.org/cooker.cgi?pkg=cups-pamDetails: I restored not all original dependencies because they are dependencies of dependencies:
slitaz-base-files (cups-filters -> ghostscript -> gtk+ -> pango -> slitaz-base-files) libgcrypt . . . . (cups-filters -> ghostscript -> libgcrypt) gnutls . . . . . (cups-filters -> ghostscript -> gnutls) jpeg . . . . . . (cups-filters -> poppler -> jpeg) libpng . . . . . (cups-filters -> poppler -> freetype -> libpng) tiff . . . . . . (cups-filters -> poppler -> tiff) zlib . . . . . . (libcups -> zlib; cups-filters -> poppler -> freetype -> zlib) libcomerr3 . . . (libkrb5 -> libcomerr3) libtasn1 . . . . (libcups -> libgnutls -> libtasn1) acl . . . . . . . (cups-filters -> ghostscript -> jasper -> freeglut -> libdrm -> udev -> acl)

Hi all friendly SliTaz people!
I did reinstall my system and
as usual, cups doesn't want to connect...
I find it is an heavy desease for a friendly distro!
Is a wiki / handbook page perhaps available where such dysfunctions and the adequate solutions are treated?
I find it is a terrible thing: I don't print a lot at all but there are divers live situations where it is not possible any more to do somewhat without a printed document! Have I do install an second linux distribution to do that if I am a SliTaz user?
Kind regards
