Hi!
First time user and poster, I have to say I think Slitaz is great and I'm really glad this kind of clean, slim distro exists. Thanks!
I do have a small problem in that my old thin client can't get ethernet when first booting up. When I reboot using 'sudo reboot now' there's a 90% chance it comes back up with the network working perfectly. Alternatively, if I power it up (network is down), log in and run /etc/init.d/network.sh the network again comes up perfectly.
I just diffed a boot.log from when it worked and one from when it didn't and the bad boot log had these entries:
Processing: /etc/init.d/network.sh
Setting hostname to: mediaserv [ Done ]
Configuring loopback... [ Done ]
ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device
Starting udhcpc client on: eth0...
udhcpc: SIOCGIFINDEX: No such device
Those were the only differences. Now, this wouldn't be a huge deal if I weren't planning to run it headless as a media server! With a display attached of course I can just manually start the network, but I really want to do everything by SSH with the box tucked away on a bookshelf.
Any ideas? I was thinking to work around it by adding a '/etc/init.d/network restart' command somewhere in the later boot sequence but couldn't figure out yet where it would go.
Cheers,
James
