Slitaz comes with built-in framebuffers, but there is no obvious way to test them, because using the package manager to get fbdev_drv.so installed works, but doesn't work. What I mean is that fbdev_drv.so should load and test for /dev/fb0. (a) It doesn't load and (b) putting in a valid xorg.conf calling for fbdev_drv.so in /etc/X11 has no effect. One reason for doing this is that the fbdev_drv.so driver runs much faster than vesa_drv.so, even with swrast. Another reason is that I am curious to get the Peacekeeper Benchmark for an fbdev_drv.so setup on slitaz. And, still a third reason is that some fbdev_drv.so setups have been known to switch to 16:9 resolution when goaded, all by themselves.
And, yes, my monitor is 16:9. But, it has a button on the side that turns it into 4:3, which is relatively ideal for testing the operation of fbdev_drv.so.
Come on, gang, stop fooling around.
