Hello dudo33
My English isn't better as yours, I'm french !
I think you'd better keep openbox if your want keep your system slim.
Perhaps xfce is a good choice between simplicity and comfort.
When you arrive at the login windows (user tux) just hit the F1 key and change the desktop ; after that enter your password. That's all.
Bye.
thank you so much, i know that openbox is more light and fast, but i'm a maniac of personalization!! So i'd like to try other desktops, i felt very comfortable with xfce in xubuntu, i will decide later, thank you again!
hi again, yves04, i've done what you told bu,t after the installation of both gnome and xfce desktops, no one of them appears in the login screen after pressing f1
Hi dudo33
I've forgotten to tell you that it's necessary to change /etc/slim.conf
Open sakura or xterm
$su (password root)
#leafpad /etc/slim.conf
Add xfce4 at the end of the line sessions ; save and reboot.
This time when you press F1 you'll can change the desktop manager.
Have a nice day.
i tried the process above, and it worked, but i tried with matchbox, i wrote matchbox-desktop-2 in the sessions line, but when i select it, the system runs openbox again.
To know the exact command, type
$matchbox not return but hit the key Tab
and you'll see the possibilities
I don't know matchbox and my HD is too full, so I can't install anymore else. ;)
