thank you kultex for your efforts to help on this issue

i have to conclude something you guys already know; Cooking is not useful for Thin Clients in the T5700 series. if i am not able to start-up on 3 different TC's with different BIOS versions - - but a small kubuntu will startup from USB - then there is no other reason then - Cooking is not ready yet.

so - i'll stay with stable - the important TC for the art-installation i'm working on is still running only with the wrong surround card - tomorrow change-day to a supported type the Audigy - i have to finish the job in 8 days - i have to make that decision now.

on the other hand SliTaz is working without any complains as a headless TC. unplug keyboard, mouse and screen: stable is starting-up and running.

just a tip - I use geode machines - the best is a fujitso futro A250 on ebay or the msi fuzzi

- with different sound cards as soundserver for exibitions - for 5.1 the TERRATEC AUREON 5.1 USB works fine - but you will find it just on ebay

need help again, sorry

i thought i was pretty sure that the soundcard i installed Sound Blaster Audigy SE would produce a 5.1 surround
when checking the Mplayer from the command line i discovered that mplayer downmixed the AC3 audiostream to 2 channels in stead of the 3 inside the file

- about the pass-trough: on my soundcard i am not able to use S/PDIF - output must be analog audio
- settings in the amixer for S/PDIF is off
- volume for all channels in amixer is 70%
- the AC3 audio stream has 3 channels L - C - R
- card setting has: channels=6

is someone familiar with this phenomenon
help is much appreciated
