This is a question which may sound ridiculous.. but how can I do it with Alsa, mhWaveEdit ..
For the moment, I can just record from a micro. This is not what I want
Capture the song I hear from my speakers
Thx a lot :)

there exists something like google
and you will find something like

there exists something like google
and you will find something like
http://carthick.wordpress.com/2007/11/26/linux-recording-soundcard-output-using-arecord/
..and I didn't find a single solution which works.
neither arecord, neither audacity, neither vlc
streamripper ask for an url, there's none in my case
I cannot record with mhWaveEdit either - I get a unsupported format message but I have no problem recording any playback sound (music CD played by Alsaplayer or any sounds played by web) using Audacity.
EDIT : I use SB Audigy and it provides me with what-u-hear channel. In Audacity this channel can be set as the recording source. Tried the same with mhWaveEdit but somehow it does not appear to recognize this channel. So, I guess, this is only possible if your audio hardware supports what-u-hear channel.
RE-EDIT: check this out and let us know whether it solves your problem http://carthick.wordpress.com/2007/11/26/linux-recording-soundcard-output-using-arecord/
you have to deal with amixer, as specified in the post
http://linux.die.net/man/1/amixer
try it with amixer sset or cset
example: http://elektrad.info/Aureon-Enable-Line-Capture.html
you can also try alsamixer:
alsamixer - hit TAB to switch to the “Capture” settings
Right ARROW to select the “Input So” (short for Input Source)
Use the UP/DOWN arrow to toggle from “Mic” to “Int Mic”
I didn't even see a command line with a output of any sort.
The problem for us is not to find source on google, it's that we don't even know what
they are talking about. And when we find simple tutorial, often, it's doensn't work
Thx for helping, but for basic users, basic solutions
what do you expect from a linux system, which has 35 MB?
there are two possibilities, you deal with the basis of linux, which are commandline tools or you use more userfriendly distributions
like for audio this distributions are
dyne:bolic http://www.dynebolic.org/ min. requirements PII and 256 MB
AV-Linux http://www.bandshed.net/AVLinux.html
in these distibutions jack is preconfigured - here is another tutorial for pulseaudio and jack
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_linux.html
but setting up pulseaudio or jack can be at least as tricky as amixer or alsamixer
Slitaz is something around 120 MB and has probably the most efficient utility/size ratio ever for an OS. I just let know that little point is not evident.. but could be a nice Slitaz tool in next release
Aleksej, you are right, but
in case of soundcard configuration, it does matter
as an example - yes we have Ardour in the repository, it installes, but until now, it is not working correct - see this thread
http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/real-time-priority-sched-what#post-4746
and there is another problem
Slitaz is using soundconfig and not alsaconf and it seems, that soundconf seems to produce more errors on not activating switches - it got really better, because 2 years ago, there was quite a lot of errors on listening, but it seems to be the same with activating the recording switch - but this is not prooved only a guess...
I have read this topic and on my pc work, please tried this system:
Open alsamixer press f4 and move the cursor in to column capture and mix press space bar to highlited two (L R Capture).
Play your music preferred (web cd or another way).
Open mhwaveedit press rec (red button), select quality and view vumeter to confirm presence your audio input.
From cd and web have tested recording and work on all case descripted.
gibor, I already try this. But this records also from the micro (line-in) I just want the song coming from the speakers
Sorry my english is horrible maybe I did not understand, but if you muted the mic and other and select only pcm (f3) recording only audio output from speaker, or not have understand the intent.
oh, what one can see in alsamixer, depends the hardware of each. Beside this, I have no idea what means "mic" , "pcm" .. or whatever . I still have a kind of horrible mixture of sound.. lol
PS: aleksej is right
