rt2870usb-firmware

   Just got new tiny usb wifi adapter (LB Link BL-WN151) and need ralink drivers. I have read elsewhere that the rt2870 usb module is needed but when I try to install it stops with this error:

   Hello TraceE
   I doubt that rt2870 is the right one.
   mt7601u could be the one you need.

   (but i can be wrong)

   However,
   to make it easier for someone to provide help, you should
   at least post the output of the lsusb command.

   I think you are correct ... lsusb produced this line for the adapter:

   Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:7601

   Can you tell me how to load the driver/module in Slitaz 5?

   Success ... :)

   I decided to try and install the same way as I installed my nvidia latest drivers ... some of these steps are probably not needed (I think only linux-module-headers are needed) but it worked for me so no harm done .... here's what I did:

   Downloaded the latest driver for mt6701u from Mediatek: http://cdn-cw.mediatek.com/Downloads/linux/DPO_MT7601U_LinuxSTA_3.0.0.4_20130913.tar.bz2

   Unpacked the tar.bz2 with xarchive ... then in terminal:

   # tazpkg get-install slitaz-toolchain
   # tazpkg get-install ncurses-dev
   # tazpkg get-install perl
   # tazpkg get-install linux-module-headers
   # cd /home/tux/Desktop/DPO_MT7601U_LinuxSTA_3.0.0.4_20130913 (or wherever the unpacked driver folder is saved).
   # make
   # make install
   # modprobe mt7601Usta

   Restart the wifi network ... :)

   Just installed on another laptop and confirmed that the only .tazpkg that is needed is linux-module-headers.

   Does the linux-module-headers.tazpkg need to be kept after installing the module or can it be uninstalled?
