I have installed sakis3g-s4.tazpkg according to previous post. Then run "Hardware auto-detection and configuration tool" and click 3G-Modem..Terminal window said "3g-modem setup failed.."
Please help
Sakis3G has nothing to do with the Hardware detection and drivers tool. After installing the sakis3g package go to Applications---> Internet and click on Sakis3G icon and use that to connect. It may take a minute for the menu to appear in the window, but trust me it will. Alternatively, you can run it from Sakura by typing sakis3g
Also this package only works with SliTaz 4. It WILL NOT work with SliTaz 3 or SliTaz Rolling/Cooking as it is.
So,How to install my HUAWEI E303 drivers?
You don't install. You just use Sakis3G to connect. It comes with everything (including the latest usb_modeswitch).
@nandika
Trying to connect with Sakis3G won't work because the dongle does not switch to serial modem that connects PPP.
HUAWEI E303 with Hi-Link when switched uses cdc_ether module to create virtual ethernet mac address to connect.
An administrative panel for the dongle can be accessed from a web browser at address 192.168.1.1
If you have a network device with address 192.168.1.1 on your network either disconnect the device or change it's address so there is no conflict.
We should be able to configure the Huawei E303 to work but I need more information.
Huawei Not Plugged In
Open terminal, put it in kernel message monitor mode:
Applications/Accessories/Sakura Terminal
Type this:
tail -f /var/log/messages
Hit Enter Key
Plug in the Huawei
You should see messages in the terminal related to the Huawei E303 in the terminal.
Open leafpad to paste/save these messages and output to file:
Applications/Accessories/Leafpad Text editor
Copy all the kernel messages from Sakura terminal related to the Huawei E303 and paste them into leafpad.
Open another terminal:
Type this:
lsusb
Hit Enter key
Type this:
ifconfig
Hit Enter Key
Copy/paste add the output from each of those commands into leafpad with the kernel messages.
Save the leafpad text file with all the information, open the file while logged into forum, paste then post in your Reply.
In that case Sakis3G could still be used to switch it. Just replace USBDRIVER="option" with USBDRIVER="cdc_ether" in /etc/sakis3g.conf, start up Sakis3G, select More Options... and select the option to switch the modem. Then go to http://192.168.1.1/ and see if it worked.
