offlineUnregisteredAs no one else has given you an answer, I'll say what I think will work.
If you copy the kernel and filesystem files over to a partition, I believe you will be able to use your installed boot loader to load the kernel and filesystem from that partition. Commonly known as a 'frugal' install, I believe.
