missing reply re getting Slitaz to work on an iMac:
kultex - wot Ive learnt I got from an article in the 'Linux Format' magazine:
LXP225 July 2017 issue pg 42.
The article heading reads - 'Install Linux on a MacBook'
They explain how to do a dual-boot setup of linux and OS X. The distribution they use is Elementary OS - because of it desk top Mac like appearance and that Elementary has built-in read/write support for the Macs HFS+ file system so they can make a shared data partition.
They use rEFInd boot manager.

they use Etcher to make the install media - a 2GB USB flash drive.

I have not yet been successful in getting Slitaz to boot up from the hard drive…but I do need to re-do that again.
rEFInd does give me the option of booting either OS X or Slitaz when I have the usb drive plugged in.
With a usb drive boot up:
my wireless network works …and so does eDuke (nukeum) complete with sound…as does all my 'testing' (trying out) so far.
Like you I need some spare time to play with this more. ..though my computing skills are fairly basic. Hope this helps, kultex.
Id be interested to hear how you get on…and by all means let me know if I can help with more detail.
