In full knowledge of /etc/init.d/rcS I am wondering something?
How possible is it that I can swap out slim login manager for xdm?
I have a tablet computer and Slitaz is designed to show a log in screen on each boot. Despite reading all forum articles on this I can not get autologin to work. /home/tux has had tazx , tazlocale, startx and several times over with writefs save actions following several times over. Same for /root with addition of slim. /etc/slim.conf has the needed auto_login yes line appended and at times I see that line 20 times at end of that file.
The only thing I can see that is odd is that as a tux user I see some verbosity in the terminal that my language is not supported by glibc or something similar. Would this mean that my profile wont load correctly this defeating your /etc/init.d/rcS script? I am in america and I have a us keymap. I set en but if I look at your syslinux files I see a uk keymp associated with en? I am not sure on this there are a lot of syslinux files.
What if someone wanted to get a tablet computer to work with your distribution? Slim login manager does not support a virtual keyboard but xdm does. I can use both cell writer and xvkbd and both are in various of your repos. I do not see xdm in packages but I think that I may be able to put the correct X hooks in to place to support. The only thing I have as an opponent is the /etc/init.d/rcS script at that point.
The other option I have is to script a agetty based autologin for a user and to completely bypass slim. I cant boot anything newer that Slitaz version 3 so this might be a little old but its the newest of your offerings that works on my hardware.
Is there anyway to modify the script I mention to support xdm so that folks on tablet computers can use your distro too?
