I dis stick to OP's topic: a long time it was not possible to boot SliTaz easily any more as SliTaz although it is a extremly very light distro did split the rootfs.gz and in the last ones, it was not possible to concatenate them with success: It was only possible access and install the console mode part and not more (easily! probably that experts did find other ways...); only CD or USB gave easily success.
under such conditions SliTaz was a smudge distro seducing users to use more USB memories with short longevity or CD's for only one use (::) !
I regret... it was so!
and it would be regretable if it would be again the case at publishing time of the new official stable iso!
the environmental correct way (for ex. using grub install by SliTaz) to start a new session with a slitaz.iso has to be in my opinion:
title one-start-action
root (hdh0,y/partition)
kernel /zatils/bzImage pdev1=sdc3 psubdir=zatils
initrd /zatils/rootfs.gz
(why zatils and not slitaz: using this frugal start in the future partition, you can delete more easy all the other dir's marking only all dir under the "y" rang without to delete the frugal partition ;-) ...)
kind regards
