New config for 3.2.14 kernel?

I've been trying to debug the problem with pcmanfm not seeing the CDROM or other mountable devices. While reading the changelog for udev 182 (http://upstream-tracker.org/changelogs/libudev/182/changelog.html) I see that compatability links for ATA devices are no longer supported. So if a user has an ATA CDROM then udev doesn't create a /dev/cdrom for it. The solution is to disable the deprecated ATA support in the kernel config file. With the SATA and PATA support (libata) enabled, ATA CDROM drives are identified as /dev/sr? and configured correctly. I have the new kernel config file in my local repository but I didn't want to commit it to wok without approval since this is obviously a substantial change. BTW, I can get pcmanfm to access the CDROM but I can't yet eject the CDROM from pcmanfm. Nor does the installed HD show up in pcmanfm. I can still browse the drive's contents but I need to traverse directories to do it.Posted 12 years ago #
