Everyone tacitly admits that the gma500 modules cause crashes and other trouble, so I disable them.
I then get the following pieces of software:
915resolution hacked for Cedarview, although the original version might work anyway.
x86d, a demon program needed to support uvesafb.ko
The fbdev xorg driver which yields the very fastest system. Or, you can stay with
the vesa xorg driver, which is much slower, but adequate for 16:9 resolution.
Supposing your monitor resolution is 1366x768 16:9, without the 4:3 vesa compatibility switch on the side of your monitor pressed, and you have fbdev as the xorg.conf driver. Then, for best ultimate results, you do:
home:> 915resolution 54 1366 768 32
home:> modprobe uvesafb mode_option=1366x768-32
home:> startx
(You can easily modify and adapt for slitaz.)
