Sorry. You can use pkgs.slitaz.org from your machine with internet connection to search and manually download packages.
As for example, I searching package "strace" in the "cooking" repository:

Sorry, your log looks incomplete. I can't see here that "FATAL" error.
Other small "infatal errors" I see in the my strace log while modprobe gives no errors.
I think you can try "insmod" command? I have no skills in Kernel, sorry 
And "insmod" requires parameter - full path to the kernel module:

PS. If log is complete, can you re-try and to make other huge log with the same command but with "trace=all" instead of "trace=file", then paste log content on the http://paste.slitaz.org/ and publish link here.

Do you have package "firmware-rt2x00" installed?
Seems it's the clue. Because "rt2800pci.ko.xz" module uses "rt2860.bin" firmware:

And this firmware file we can find only in the "firmware-rt2x00" package:

Mojo told me to force install firmware-rt2x00 and I did it, but the rt2860.bin was there before. I know this file well, because I always need to copy it to a Debian live version so I can get wireless.
tazpkg search-file rt2860.bin
creates no wonders, the file is there where I always can find it if it is there
/lib/firmware/rt2860.bin
and it was there all the time...
adn it is from the package firmware-rt2x00 the output sais.
You can suggest other experiments, I can afford to break the install of SliTaz. Even if the CF card breaks it would be not a disaster.
Try insmod command? I know where the module file is.

I just experimented. I removed the file /lib/firmware/rt2860.bin
Now:

modprobe: FATAL: Module rt2860pci not found.[/c]
Really I not touching the module. The module is in it's place, and error message like yours! Something like incorrect error message

Ok, meanwhile I compare the rt2860.bin files on my systems.
md5sum of the file on a working system is equal to that on SliTaz.

By the way, I checked "depends:" line in the "modinfo rt2800pci" output (using "tazpkg search-file ...) and ended with only "linux" and "linux-wireless" packages that you already have.

Ok. I've got "mine.strace" and saved your log as "yours.strace", then use "diff"...
Numbers are different (I not upgraded my packages to the latest builds, but I have latest versions).
I have no file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
My file /lib/modules/3.2.71-slitaz/modules.builtin.bin is zero size, yours - 9794 bytes.
After reading this file my log continues, but your log ends.
Try to copy this file to the safe place, then clean the original and re-try modprobe:
[c]# cp -a /lib/modules/3.2.71-slitaz/modules.builtin.bin /
# echo -n > /lib/modules/3.2.71-slitaz/modules.builtin.bin[/c]
Later, to restore file:

blacklist.conf I did myself to avoid booting into black screen and beeping PC sounds.
modules.builtin.bin may be is not empty, because I have a different ISO, I have slitaz-rolling.iso and you have slitaz-rolling-core.iso, but I see what you are pointing at. I'll do it.

Now I take a look at the file sizes. I think you have extremely small:

Are they really 12 Bytes each?

There [c]depmod[/c] command regenerates almost all files in the [c]/lib/modules/3.2.71-slitaz[/c] (all but [c]modules.builtin[/c] and [c]modules.order[/c]). And maybe this [c]depmod[/c] is broken. What is alternative?

Why I unsure? Now I checked for updates, I should upgrade 718 of 772 (or 738?) installed packages. OMG! Are they so much? 
I may break my installation during upgrade, and it will not work like yours. I not using fresh Rolling ISO, my SliTaz is regularly upgraded 2 years old installation.
Try the alternative, then check file sizes:

"Try the alternative": I tried the commands with kmod which I tried with depmod, but syntax is not the same. When I try kmod depmod ... or kmod modprobe ... I get invalid command depmod or modprobe. A strange thing comes out when I issue

then I get an empty "table" with headers only.

Check the filesystem on the slitaz install partition.
You can either boot into another linux on the same machine or use a live cd or usb.
The slitaz partition un-mounted.
[c]e2fsck -f -C 0 /dev/XXXX[/c]
The 0 is a zero,replace the XXXX with the correct slitaz partition designation using [c]blkid[/c] or [c]fdisk -l[/c] to identify.

If the filesystem has to be modified then the flash card is failing.
Re-install or trying to fix slitaz when it's installed on failing flash or hard drive is a waste of time.
