Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

Hi!

@ceel

In fact, Tazinst doesn't detect 'c' type Win95 FAT32 partitions.

Fixed: http://hg.slitaz.org/slitaz-tools/rev/f1ba248d0b54

Thank you for the bug report,

dom

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

1.  Create Directory on Partition named 0A (In my case ,7)

2.  Download ISO

3.  extract files into directory

4.  Copy this to Grub4DOS file named menu.lst

title SLITAZ (0A)

  find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /0A/0A

  root (hd0,7)

  kernel /0A/boot/bzImage

  kernel /0A/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.37-slitaz root=hd0,7

  initrd /0A/boot/rootfs4.gz /0A/boot/rootfs3.gz /0A/boot/rootfs2.gz /0A/boot/rootfs1.gz

Outstanding!

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

@tengzelius

Is your post a response to my earlier question about installing the boot loader to a partition boot sector instead of the MBR?

If so, how would I install the boot loader. I am not knowledgable about grub4dos.

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

Sorry for stupid question but how I update with tazpkg set-relase? Also thanks for this awesome distro. It has been a real lifesaver for me after support for Linux 2.4 kernel (which my own distro used) stopped.

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

Hey karthanon,

I have exactly the same issue with the same T21 setup except I've got 512MB of RAM. I've tried upgrading from 3 and clean installed from all the flavours on the disk and all the flavours from the web install.  I've managed to get as far as the login screen but it freezes there instead.  The only thing I haven't tried yet is installing by hand.

Have you had any luck or does anybody else have any ideas?  I really like version 3 and would like to upgrade to 4 if possible.

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

Okay. I have noticed it is not a good idea to update using slitaz set-release. Is there any way to update SliTaz from stable 3 to stable 4 without burning slitaz 4.0 CD? I have SliTaz 3.0 loram-cdrom CD I used to (re-)install SliTaz on my computer. (I used loram-cdrom because I only have 64MB of RAM)

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

To solve your problem in three words: Just. use. sakis3g.

It does everything for you and can be automated from setting them in /etc/sakis3g.conf - then just use sakis3g connect and then it connects without requiring user input at all.

Stop complicating it for yourself.

Hi nary,

Can you give more details about your configuration and the way you install SliTaz ? It seems you have at least 2 HD.

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0 Release

I have not seen response to the invasion of the user tux in my personal account, even after it is deleted. It is recreated on next boot without a password and has access to my personal files
