Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Damn,

I build i2c-hid, hid-multitouch, but touchpad won't work.

Retest with boot on Ubuntu to ensure not forget modules, if rmmod i2c-hid, touchpad not move, if modprobe move again.

Concerning your wifi card, think you need ucode for iwlwifi.

On my G7 need iwlwifi-cc-a0-59.ucode, for your card "Intel Comet Lake PCH-LP CNVi WiFi driver" seem need "iwlwifi-QuZ-a0-hr-b0"

https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/intel-comet-lake-pch-lp-cnvi-wifi-driver-n-a/78351/5

Not packed, need check for add new firmware package for iwlwifi, but you get them here smile

https://people.slitaz.org/~shann/slitaz-current-stuff/firmware-iwlwifi/

I also rebuild iso, when test wifi see wpa_supplicant failed to run because miss libssl 1.1 and libcrypto 1.1.

Infact think miss to rebuild it on my local wok, and tazlito use local packages in priority of mirror

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

I appreciate all the work you are doing on this.

I look forward to getting an .iso that I can install on a flash drive and have the settings saved and I can update.

I like the idea of a rolling release that I can install once and just update.

Once I can save settings to the flash drive that I install to then I can add drivers that work for my laptop.

Thanks for all the work you are doing on this.

Dan

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Hi Dan,

No problem, thanks smile.

I put ubuntu kernel + modules on my usb key, and edit grub to boot them with SliTaz Current.

Touchpad work, in case our Xorg stack / synaptics not root cause.

Need to continue check diff between ubuntu kernel / slitaz kernel and found options that include in kernel to detect touchpad, infact if not forgot, we have same modules load (i2c_hid, hid, hid_multitouch, hid_generic)

For you touchpad, can you please put result of "xinput" ?

In my case, for Ubuntu see at [c]SYNA30B1:00 06CB:Touchpad[/c] and PCI ID [c]06CB:CE07[/c]

Technically you can install on usb key but keep in mind that flash wear for write access.

Also at time tazinst don't have support to install grub2 or grub2-efi, also same for separate /boot.

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Hi,

Up linux to 5.10.214 and xorg server patch for april CVEs.

https://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-announce/2024-April/003497.html

For linux 5.10.214, fix issue on paravirt i see previously on 5.10.211 - 5.10.213

On changelog, we can see "x86/paravirt: Fix build due to __text_gen_insn() backport"

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Hi alanyih,

Infact thanks for tips, with -vga vmware it's work smile.

Continue to fight with touchpad, go to deep inside kernel module to understand.

Not directly related to touchpad, i put amdgpu as module on kernel, 'black screen' with Xorg, and see on dmesg need amdgpu firmware, with it, Xorg happy and glxgears also ~3300 frames in 5s, ~600 FPS ^^

Touchpad work now, don't think to save gentoo forum link.

In case infact due of missing config on kernel inside, below diff between previous config and new.

Big strange it's that with I2C/HID, see device on /sys for SYNA30AF but nothing for 06CB:CE07 (aka touchpad).

Now it's ok

I launch rebuild it on my local wok to create new iso and test it before push.

In case AMDGPU as kernel mod implied that include firmware-amdgpu, need check final iso size.

Test with vmlinuz and modules-5.10.214.gz (to have modules/firmware) on my EeePC seem no impact/diff with actual 5.10.214.

At least think only need for core64, infact AMDGPU is for Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture.

Not need to include them on linux / linux-pae.

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Hi,

Below usb key with new iso i tested, compare to actual iso, increase of 10Mo (due of 60Mo for amdgpu).

Need to rebuild iso, infact all stuff done on live, i'm forgot to saved iso after dd on usb and real test.

To not depend of fbefi, need xorg-xf86-video-amdgpu smile

Hi,

I put iso to efitest folder :

https://people.slitaz.org/~shann/slitaz-current-stuff/efitest/slitaz-current-core64.iso

Below test on qemu, yes inside SliTaz with kvm (i build 6.2.0 + pick OVFM.fd from ubuntu 20, embedded version in receipt is too old).

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

arf hmm

Infact xinput not present, need to be installed with xorg-xinput (maybe good idea to include them in iso).

If remember you have Intel CometLake processor, and you run with 6.8 kernel in Manjaro.

Could you do run xinput on manjaro to see type of touchpad you have please ?

Think same as me need tweak kernel for your touchpad work.

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Thanks maybl8,

If understand search 06cb:00bb Synaptics, Inc. it's related to fingerprint

Found this topic https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201775 talk about option to append on kernel line.

'i8042.nopnp' and 'noapic'

But think not revelant, last comment said with 4.19 kernel work without this options.

I suspect miss option kernel instead.

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Hi,

Infact with change of I2C/HID forget to add hid modules on modules.list

I put new iso with 5.10.215 kernel and usbhid modules

https://people.slitaz.org/~shann/slitaz-current-stuff/efitest/slitaz-current-core64.iso

Not at home last week-end, can't check for touchpad, take time after work.

Re: UEFI only Laptop - Trouble booting

Hi alanyih,

Nice smile

maybl8, for your touchpad think related to PINCTRL, this topic talk about PINCTRL_CANNONLAKE

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1124506-start-0.html

See it's on module on our config, but not include in kernel.

Let's me take time to rebuild kernel with him and put new iso

Maybl8, hope is fine to have your touchpad work.

And if not work, we could include them (all modules took 80ko)
