There may be a problem in the shell script /etc/init.d/bootopts.sh

The script addresses around line 49 the slim default user (see .etc/slim.conf ) after the boot default user is activated at around line 37.

In my opinion, the slim setting should be examined/accepted before the "else" .

If the keepers of the code check this it may eliminate the need for individuals to do work-arounds eg change around line 38 after "else" USER=tux   to  USER=Bill.
