Firefox 42 is in package firefox-official.
Remember to search for packages on pkgs.slitaz.org or with "tazpkg -s".
I want to add a question in this regard: The firefox-official package does not accept the german language pack.
To avoid this problem, i went to the Mozilla site downloaded the fully localized package and installed it following this instructions: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_Firefox
As far as i can see it works. There is only missing the firefox.desktop file (which can be easily handmade if needed, i presume). But does this create a problem to Slitaz?
Hi there!
emninger, I just added package "firefox-official-de" to the SliTaz repository for you.
You can download it right now using the link http://cook.slitaz.org/cooker.cgi?download=firefox-official-de-42.0.tazpkg (size: 43 MB)
Please, remove original package "firefox-official" before installation of "firefox-official-de": it can exist only one similar package at a time! Also, please remove your hand-installed language pack.
Also, firefox-official is available now in the next languages: de, fr, pt-BR, ru. Please, ask me if anyone needs even more languages — it's very simple, but package is relatively big.
Background (if anyone interested):
At first I tried to make packages with language pack. I get the size of about 300 KB. After installing the package and launching firefox-official it found the newly installed locale pack and asked if everything is okay. And… nothing more!
The user should investigate the internet to find out what he need to go address about:config and change there some value. It is extremely uncomfortable!
Firefox can be started with the special key, for example:
firefox-official --UILocale de
and it can be patched the .desktop file of "firefox-official" after language pack installation.
But, Firefox updates very frequently, and if you have two packages "firefox-official" itself, and locale pack for it, then you'll need to update them both.
So, I decided to prepare the full localized packages instead of making locale pack packages.
Hi Aleksej,
it can exist only one similar package at a time
Maybe you could add something in pre_install() to prevent this (a bit like the pre_remove() of package busybox)?
Thanks llev it worked!I just had to install the package from the package manager instead of the file.
Hi! It worked for me as well, but i'm missing the firefox-official.desktop file. Should i rebuild it on my own?
Edit this one from the package if you like:

I install the firefox.tar.bz2 from mozilla on all my distros because it includes the updater. I'm notified immediately when there's an update. This saves download bandwidth as most incremental updates are only 2-3MB using the updater compared to having to download 40MB+ to replace the whole browser from a distros repository. I install firefox in my /home so I don't have to restart as root in order to have permissions to install the updates.
