Hello, for my first post on here I thought I might mention that I spent some time trying to get lighttpd working with a cgi script that was actually a binary executable file compiled from a C/C++ program and placed in /var/www/cgi-bin. The same executable worked OK when I transferred it to an online webserver running Apache, but it did not work locally on my own machine running lighttpd with Slitaz stable-version. I had set the permissions with chmod 755 so it should have worked?
I searched the web a lot and found many mentions that you need to edit the lighttpd.conf file and change the "cgi.assign" line(s) so that it says (""=>"") so that it tries to run any filetype as an executable.
Curiously this still did not work if my binary has the .cgi extension. However, I have just found out that if I rename it so that it has a .exe extension and, obviously, change the html so that it refers to the .exe, instead of .cgi, it works perfectly. This will save me a lot of messing about now (partly because Apache looks complicated to install), so I am very happy indeed ;-0 !! and thought this might save someone else some time and possibly may be of interest to anyone supporting lighttpd on slitaz. Any suggestions for alternative ways of setting lighttpd up would be appreciated, too. Greetings all.
