It seems that your wifi adapters radio is not switched on.
Forgot to mention to set the wireless router to broadcast a ESSID name or you can't connect.
Reviewed my instructions on a 2006 Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop which has BCM4311 wireless.
I found it was not necessary to modprobe -r b43 ; modprobe b43
Install the firmware, open Wifi configuration which opens Wifi network box.
A couple of seconds later the computers wifi indicator lights up and the wireless access point ESSID name appears under any.
Dbl clicked my access points essid name, which opens Wifi connection box.
Enter the WPA password, click OK button and it connects.
Check the firmware md5sum matches mine:
tux@slitaz:~$ md5sum b43-firmware-4.150.10.5.tazpkg
bee851150681f04ad914aad3d1fb444f b43-firmware-4.150.10.5.tazpkg
Run the command in bold after installing firmware and opening Wifi configuration.
You should see similar output:
tux@slitaz:~$ dmesg | grep -i b43
