Make sure your system is completely updated (new builds and updates) using a terminal, virtual terminal, or console.
I never use tazpanel packages to update because error messages required to troubleshoot a broken system after updates are hidden.
After removing /etc/pango/pango.modules my system had missing font replaced with squares like your picture.
To restore the font I ran tazpkg reconfigure pango in terminal which recreates /etc/pango/pango.modules using pango-query-modules and rebooted.
Many thanks, Mojo. It works now again. I'm very happy about your help!
You are a very big profi and indispensable for the Slitaz Community, all your posts are very helpful! From first time, if I start with Slitaz, I followed your instructions and at last was running, always.
Here a short descrition, if somebody else have same problem:
- system booting to the desktop as seen in picture above, with the square font
- you can change to console with Strg+Alt+F6 and login with root or tux
- if with root start now: tazpkg upgrade
- after that: tazpkg reconfigure pango (as Mojo written)
- and reboot
