So far, Midori and Tazweb works very very slow. I'm surprise because Midori and seamonkey fly in version 3. So far I have test midori and tazpanel and both works very slow. (????)

Not only are browers working extremely slow but when I want to download a package from tazpanel it hangs forever. Or at least to to the end of my pacience, which is about 10 minutes. So, I am in a situation where I can not use the internet or download from slitaz web. DOES ANYBODY HAS THIS SITUATION? I have two others partition with slitaz 3 that works fine.
I have noticed that the midori browser in version 4 is not the same as in version 3. Also the icon for midori and private browser are the same. ??????
There is a bunch of little browsers installed that maybe are creating some conflict. Before starting to delete browser and probably installing again, ANY HINTS?

In which country do you live?
Believe me that this is no problem of Midori. It is here damned quick. For some reason your line is slow. Here, in Germany, this happens sometime with ipv6 - on the same machine you get high speed after switching it off, but that needs a reboot and a manual change in some scripts in /etc.Posted 12 years ago # -
erm, ipv6 is disabled by default with SliTaz - just not in Firefox ;)

I live in Spain, I always use the same laptop, and the same Internet connection. I have 3 disk partition, the first two running slitaz 3. On the third one I'm running slitaz 4.
On versions 3 partitions things runs very fast and I don't have this problem. But if nobody else has this problem them the problem is on my side for sure. Probably very basic. My first suspect is the magnetic media. I'm going to buy a brand new CD and download RC1 again and see what happens. Maybe the download was defected too. Let's start from scrach. Keep you posted.

I discovered what was the problem. It was the CD. I burn a CD-RW with the "fast" option, which is the one that it is shown in the CD/DVD form for blanking CD/DVD. I thought that "fast" had to do with the speed, and that it was the "default" speed selection. I found out that what "fast" actually means is "minimally blank the entire disk", (whatever that does).
If you have a CD-RW and you have data on it, it doesn't blank the CD entirely if you leave the "fast" option on the form. You may encounter problems here and there but the instalation with the iso file could work. You have to change the option to "all", or any other options that "really" blank the entire CD.I suggest a better blanking form. This one is prompt to error and it leads to confusion to people new to Slitaz. Maybe by having a blanking form by itself, and not under the "help/settings" bar.
Many times, problems are silly and solutions are simple. About 30 years ago, when PC were becoming popular, I remember that PC system always came with manuals. In those manuals there always was a section title, Problems and Troubleshooting. The first thing they recomend when something didn't work, was to go to the troubleshooting section. The first recomendation always was:
1) MAKE SURE THE COMPUTER POWER CORD IS CONNECTED TO THE OUTLET ON THE WALL.
The second was something like; make sure the printer cable is firmly connected to the computer port, the third one something similar in nature, etc, etc.
Since them, users have came a long way. But the basic troubleshooting philosophy still the same.
TROUBLESHOOTING, START FROM THE MOST SIMPLE SOLUTIONS , TO THE MOST COMPLEX.Posted 12 years ago # -
Well, it wasn't that simple after all. After a new CD, some of the bad display got away. I test the midori browsers and it was working fine, (although I only tested for a few minutes). But, that was Saturday. This morning the browsers were working slow again with CR1 and CR2. I said the "browsers", because I have a good connection and most important, on the same computer, on the same Internet provider, the partition with version 3.0 cooking is very fast, but the partition with version 4. RC2 the Internet works very slow. (?????!!!!).
Version 3.0 works fine all the time, it can not be that the problem is the Internet connection. I have the same connection for both partition. There is something "new" that is creating the problem. I always have my laptop Acer Extensa 5230E. Intel CPU, 2G of ram, hd 250g.
I'm willing to try some suggestions. But, right now I'm stocked. RC1 and RC2 works fine, with the known bugs, but it works fast. But I can not use the WEB, even downloading from slitaz site is slow.
I could use version 3.0 for the time being. I tried update from slitaz web, but you still get 3.0.
Any advise?Posted 12 years ago #
