I am trying to install my HP 920c printer in Slitaz 3. I have added CUPS via the detect hardware and ticked printer and it installed CUPS 1.3.10. When I go to add printer it detects my printer connected via usb but then asks a username and password. I have tried my user name and password and adim password but it will not accept any.
I also know my printer should be in lp group with 666 permissions but this means nothing to me. Can anyone help please.
Thanks

CUPS 1.3.10 willnot give me admin access

Have you tried root and root for username and password?

Yes. I have tried all I can think of. Every combination possible. There is something blocking access.

Follow directions here to start/verify cupsd is running and how to access Cups admin with a web browser.

I followed this guide and it did not work. However after a lot a headscratching and hours of trying and searching I finally got the printer to work. It was accessing the admin page of cups that was so hard to achieve. It seems this is quite a common problem and its really hard for non expert users like me to resolve. In the end I tried so many things I'm not actually sure how I managed it but I think it was editing the etc/cups conf file. I will try and work through exactly what I did. It has taken me a couple of years to actually print from Slitaz 3. Why is it so hard?
Anyway thanks MojoPosted 8 years ago #
