-----here why----
-----------------
I'm using since a couple of weeks 3.0, fully intalled on hdd, on an old dell that has no boot capabilities apart from reading his hdd.
3.0 works nice.
As I can't boot nothing, I extracted the kernel and the rootfs from the iso to use them to boot manually with grub with these steps:
> root (hd0,2) (the partition where I extracted the files of the iso
> kernel /path-to-that-files/vmlinuz-slitaz-xxxxx root=/dev/null
> initrd /same path/rootfs.gz
> boot
.
In this way I booted and installed 3.0 on the hdd.
In the same way I'm trying to test 4.0rc2
4rc2.iso has four rootfs (rootfs1.gz, 2 and so on), but none of them bring me to an X server. Only the number 3 bring me to the console.
entering rolling field:
core.iso has one file rootfs, but ends up with a kernel panic.
4in1 has four rootfs ... so no way to boot with grub
cooking.iso (of the last year!) bring me to a fully working 4.0 from where i used slitaz installer to upgrade the previuous 3.0 installed on the hdd, but didn't work.
The same happens with a new installation of the 4.0 from that very old iso.
