I have installed Google Chrome from the Package Manager and it is in my Internet menu, but it will not open. Why? I have done it right. What is going on?

You need cups for it to work. Install the cups package from the Package Manager and add cupsd to your start up list by going to Menu---> System Tools---> Control Box and go to the Initialization Tab and add cupsd before slim so it looks something like this: dbus hald firewall cupsd slim and make SURE you click the Change button next to the box before exiting the control box otherwise the changes won't be saved. If it's the converted copy of Chrome from say debian or ubuntu, it may require additional packages.
Generally you can troubleshoot problems by trying to run the application from a terminal and noting which errors come up.

Thats ok, I really want to upgrade my Firefox 4 but not sure how.

Go to Edit---> Preferences ---> Advanced ---> Update and check the Firefox box. Then go to Help ---> About and click on the Check for Update Button. It should try grabbing the latest update. Then just click Apply Update and allow it to restart. I just did it myself :)

How do I get the Control Box in SLitaz 3 cooking? I don't have it at the moment.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Cooking doesn't have the control box anymore. It got replaced with Tazpanel which allows you to manage your system and install new packages all from one place.

Ah okay I see, sorry I'm newer to SliTaz. Is there any reason that when I click Taz Panel it does nothing?

You need two things for it to work. First busybox's httpd must be started and secondly you need Tazweb to access it.

AH! Thank you! I've been shopping and changing a lot, removing and installing applications and must have removed Tazweb, thank you very much!

Don't think I'll use it to be honest, everything you can do with that you can do in the terminal.

Tazweb is like 30kb installed, mind you it needs libwebkit which also isn't that big either. Tazpanel is pretty good considering it runs mostly on cgi.

You need my Firefox 4 package: http://www.trixarian.za.net/SliTaz - the firefox in the slitaz repository do not have this function.
