Afternoon, everyone.
I have an Epson SX218, which I'd like to get up-and-running in Slitaz 4.0. This question has two parts, actually.
1) CUPS itself. Is there a newer version of CUPS available? I ask this, because my other distros are all 'Puppies'. The 'Pups' I run all use CUPS 1.4.8; I see Slitaz uses 1.4.6. CUPS is not recognising my printer AT ALL. Or is this anything to do with needing a newer version of Slitaz; one which employs a 3-series kernel? All my 'Pups' use a 3-series kernel, you see.
Or do I need to use Taz Panel to get it to recognise my printer? I see there's an option there which is something to do with configuring USBs? I didn't have the Epson switched on while SliTaz was installing...
2) Drivers.
I guess this is going to be problematic. Epson have the drivers for this printer available as .deb files, and as .rpm files. I guess I don't need to ask if SliTaz can use these; I think I already know the answer!
Is there a way to convert these into a format which SliTaz will recognise, and can use?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
BTW: Totally unrelated, I know...but is it possible to do anything about enabling lm-sensors, so I can get the 'CPUTemp' plug-in on the LXPanel to work? TazPanel takes a wee bit of getting used to, I'm afraid!
Regards,
Mike.
