I am installing the 5.0 rc2 cooking 4 in 1 version to an HP dv9700 laptop with 2 hard drives. It boots to the live dvd fine and the installer runs fine, i told it to install to sda13 and to install the bootloader, thinking it would install grub2, but it installed grub4dos. It finished the install ok, and says its ok to reboot into the new system.
It then try to boot, and a grub4dos screen comes up with only one option for slitaz gnu/linux 5.0 (kernel vmlinuz-3.2.53-slitaz)
, and all the other operating systems are missing. I hit enter to boot it, and it gets an error on the 1st line.
root (hd,12)
error 23: error while parsing number
press any key to continue
i press enter and it goes back to the boot screen. so i think maybe it should say
root (hd0,12)
because i have 2 drives, so i e to edit and change it. the 2nd line reads
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.53-slitaz root=/dev/sda13 quiet
i type b to boot
but i just get a /# prompt and what looks to be an error screen, with a list of very limited shell commands, but no obvious error.
i tried installing 2 times and both times can't boot.
i can boot to the live dvd again, but need to get back to where i can boot from the hard drive
It looks as though i am looking at the hard drive, and the install ran, but didn't actually install anything because all directories are empty except /dev and many directories I would expect to see are missing, like /boot and /home and /var
Maybe I am just not doing something correctly in the install process?
If there is a document someplace that tells a normal install sequence from dvd to hard drive of the live system, that would be helpful...
