installed printer disappearing frequently

   slitaz 3.0 and HP laserJet 1300 printer.

   printer installed but disappeared frequently which requires constantly re-installation.

   help is much appreciated.

   still cannot solve this problem in slitaz 3.0

   hp laserjet 1300 printer can installed and worked properly, but only for few hours and in the same program.

   once the program was switched, the printer went away and had to be re-installed.

   how to make it stay for good.

   Just a thought: is cups deamon running?

   You can start this deamon with (as root):
   root@slitaz: #~ /etc/init.d/cupsd start

   I was thinking the same totoetsasoeur. It's clear that you are rebooting and cupsd isn't being started each time. Go to "Spider Button"---> System Tools---> Control Box and click on the Initialization tab. Then add cupsd just before slim in the Run daemons box, so it looks like this:
   dbus hald firewall cupsd slim
   then click the Change button and then Exit. Cupsd should now start each time you boot SliTaz and the printer should stop disappearing.

   thank you both of you.

   totoetsasoeur's advice does not make the printer stay after reboot.

   trixar_za's advice is working fine with my machine after reboot, but i will test for a longer time in order to report the result.

   My advice was the first step to figure out if it was cups deamon fault... It looks like, it was the case. The second step would have been what Trixar_za told you.
   I am glad it works now.

   Anyway, your first and second posts were not very clear. I mean, you did not even speak about a reboot... "The program was switched", what does that mean??? Did you switch the PC off, what program are you talking about???

   If you want efficient help, be clearer. ;-)

   sorry about the not so good description of what did happen that made the printer disappeared.

   the switching of program was like when i was writing with leafpad and switching to firefox hotmail, and sometimes even switching web pages within firefox, when i need to print hard copies.

   reboot or not, the printer does not stay for long, rebooting will definitely make it goes away.

   now the printer seemed to be ok.

   i shall be more clearer the next time.
