I used to post here under a different name and helped get the artwork area off the ground. I'm not so much looking for credit for that as I am hoping some people may remember me from before.
I have a question about run time. There are packages which I don't use and plan to remove via the package management system. how much faster will this make my OS run? I'm going to remove them regardless because they're not necessary as I don't plan to use them and thus why have them on my install.
I also want to say congratulations to the development team, all of you, because the last time I used the OS was around 2 or 3. It has come a long way and it acting and looking fantastic. Slitaz is now my primary operating system, and so I hope this community is still as active as it ever was because I'm going to be coming here a lot to ensure my set up is exactly how I want it.
As it's a minimalist linux install there are a lot of things that need tinkering as you're aware, and I just don't possess the knowledge on a linux install quite yet to do all that myself, so I'm glad everyone is here and cheers to the OS. It is wonderful.
A few other things
how do I change the time from military to standard?
where would I begin to take the basic kernel of slitaz to build my own distro based off of it? I don't mean the package management system I'd have to learn how to create my own, but the kernel and the basic xorg packages and such to get it off the ground so I could add on, and also how would I make it so I could put it out to the masses?
thank you!
