No internet connection on slitaz computer:
Download/copy to common recordable media(flashdrive,cdr/w,floppy)on another computer with internet.
Insert media into Slitaz computer and install.
Download:
http://people.slitaz.org/~mojo/stuff/ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg
Install:
#tazpkg install /path/to/ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg
or
Menu/System Tools/PCMan File Manager
Browse to and highlight ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg
Right click menu, choose Open with "Package install"
thanks a lot for the package :)
well, i think i get a new problem with my ipw2100 firmware.
im currently using slitaz 4 RC2 in my old laptop at home where there is no internet connection on it
and based on post ipw2100 firmware ??
i download the ipw2100 firmware and installing them on /lib/firmware
next i load the firmware by
root@slitaz:~#modprobe ipw2100
and then i check it by using dmesg and give me something like this...
root@slitaz:~#dmesg | grep "ipw2100"
ipw2100: Detect Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connectio
ipw2100: eth1: Firmware 'ipe2100-1.3.fw' not available or load failed

ipw2100: probe of 0000:02:02.0 failed with error -5
well, i try this command
root@slitaz:~#insmod ipw2100
insmod: can't insert 'ipw2100': invalid module format
this is my lsmod output
root@slitaz:~#lsmod

I have no solution as to why the firmware is not available or load fails.
The md5sum of all ipw2100 firmware files installed by ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg to /lib/firmware on slitaz matches the same files in /lib/firmware on a booted lubuntu oneric ocelot livecd.
#tazpkg install ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg
Check the md5sum of the installed firmware to verify it matches this:
root@slitaz:~# md5sum /lib/firmware/ipw2100*

ha..ha...! that funny for me...this is too lame
after doing some tweaking for long time,,im forget one thing its to reloaded that ipw2100 module used by kernel
well, after installing ipw2100 firmware....
im forget to reload again that module used by kernel,
first, i remove that module used by kernel :)
root@slitaz:~# modprobe -r ipw2100
then i probing that module
root@slitaz:~# modprobe ipw2100
and binggo....! its loaded into kernel :)
well,, this thread has been solved he..he..
so...what do you think, mojo..? thnks for help me and thanks with the ipw2100 firmware :)
Hi, i have similar problems to start my WLAN Adapter(Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter ipw2100) in slitaz. I use slitaz 4.0 RC2. The strange thing is, that diffrent steps necessary to get it work(Live CD after reboot).
Following steps that helped me:
- Changing the Wireless Adapter from wlan0 to eth0 in etc/network.conf.
- Reload the module: modprobe -r ipw2100
And a few other steps....
In console as root:
- tazpkg get-install get-wifi-firmware
- get-ipw2200-firmware
creetz
well, in my case
im currently running slitaz on my laptop at home, where there is no internet connection
so i have to install ipw2100 firware manually
because using this command :
- tazpkg get-install get-wifi-firmware
- get-ipw2200-firmware
it needs internet connection to download ipw2100 firmware :)
Yes thats true, i used a wired connection for install. I searched for the package, didnt find the correct package thats workz...
This is what you need: http://people.slitaz.org/~mojo/stuff/ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg
The wireless module must be loaded after the firmware is installed.
Slitaz livecd,not installed:
Install firmware,unload wireless module,load wireless module,restart networking.
#tazpkg install /path/to/ipw2100-firmware-1.3.tazpkg
#modprobe -r ipw2100
#modprobe ipw2100
#/etc/init.d/networking.sh restart
Applications/System Tools/Wifi configuration
Slitaz installed with persistence: Reboot
Running a livecd makes installing hardware more of a challenge because you can't reboot.
@ichrootdunix
Usually if you have an ethernet adapter it will be eth0
ipw2100 is the only wireless adapter I've seen that is assigned eth*
#dmesg | grep ipw2100
or open a 2nd xterm
tail -f /var/log/messages
Read messages while unloading and then loading ipw2100 after installing the firmware.
@stack
Good to hear you figured it out :-)
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm in the same situation as the OP and can't find the 2100 firmware in tazpkg form anywhere. @mojo, do you still have it somewhere, since it's not in the link you provided then anymore ?
