I repacked a live SliTaz CD with some scripts and a couple files, I've given this out to quite a few people and for some it boots straight to the desktop, others go to the log in screen, they can enter tux then get a terminal prompt and still run my script. I can't seem to figure out what the common factor to these people that can't get to the desktop, it seems to be all different pc manufacturers different host OS's (different Windows versions, 32 or 64 bit). If anyone has any insight it would be very appreciated.

Either use slitaz-3.0-xvesa.iso flavor or tazlito to make a custom xorg iso which includes every tazpkg with xorg-xf86-video prefix.
With the graphics specific drivers included on your custom iso autodetection has a greater chance of working.
Xvesa while limited in performance/features is small and will give a screen on almost any pc.
It's no longer supported and no xvesa version is planned for cooking/slitaz-4
Xorg is standard on slitaz-3.0.iso,to make the iso as small as possible a decision was made to not include any graphics specific drivers on the iso.
Vesa the generic xorg driver has very poor monitor/graphics chip detection and frequently fails to get a screen.Posted 13 years ago # -
Awesome, thanks for the reply! I used tazlito to make the current version, I'll look into using it to make a Xorg iso.
