If you click the 'start' button, where it says Applications at the top left, and click 'Utilities', then 'ISO Master', I believe you can create ISOs with that. You'll probably need to insert the WinXP cd, then mount the drive, and drag the files from the cd, which will be /mnt/cdrom (I think).
Thanks for your reply..
Yes i did try the ISO Master. Just that it doesn't work. Not sure whether the bootup information from the CD are copied into the iso.
I created the iso for the qemu to bootup and this is to install a windows xp VM onto Slitaz.
2 possibilites : It could be the bootup information is not copied or the command line to initiate the qemu is not correct.
I will try to create an iso file using my windows xp box and tried it out again.
Perhaps use the Tools > Boot Record options? I don't have any bootable discs laying around that I can try.
To create .iso images of existing disks (may be harddisks, CDs, DVDs or anything that contains data in readable form), THE tool under linux is "dd" (disk dump). If you have errors (copy protection or scratches) on the disk, ddrescue might be an even better choice. This won't copy ALL copy protected disks, but will create usable images of tons of disks or might be used for data recovery.
You'll have to type a line instead of doing some clicks, but will be done quickly...
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dd_(Unix)
or just google "man ddrescue", you'll find tons of info.
ddrescue is in the tazpkg repository.
