It would be nice if all applications on the upcoming SliTaz 5.0 ISO were more or less up to date upon release. Terminal(s), file manager, simple editor, calculator etc. all seem to be ok. But Midori isn't. The currently used version (0.5.2) is a year old. There have been five releases since May 2013 during which the browser has undergone major changes (a partial re-write, bug fixes, tons of new features etc). Since the entire repo is currently being cooked, maybe now is the moment to update Midori to 0.5.8 before RC-2 or Final is released?

Probably still won't work like you'd expect. Midori has some weird extra requirements - especially to get https working :/

It's EXACTLY what I wanted to suggest! Very glad someone else express the same feelings! :))
About Midori I wasnt aware there are https issues... sorry to hear that... any hope a keymaster will fix that...? ;)Posted 10 years ago # -
You're right, I forgot about that. We had this here before some time ago. Maybe SliTaz 5.0 shouldn't have a browser on the ISO? After all, there are lots of browsers in the repo and there's always TazWeb ...

Good idea again... or, if Midori is a headache, maybe time to switch browser?
TazWeb alone is a really poor solution.. it has serious issues rendering even clean static html1 web pages... since Slitaz shines for its full network support, a full functional web browser would be logic...
Also, if I can add, the "light web server" on v4 is also a very poor solution... better dont start it by default at boot on port 80... its not a serious matter of course, but it would save to kill it automatically every time..why? someone needs Apache on port 80 ;)Posted 10 years ago #
