ncurses broken?

   Hello,

   I installed the lynx text browser but when I launch it it returns a message:
   lynx[3409]: segfault at 15 ip b7708635 sp bfff96f0 error 4 in libncurses.so.6.2[b76fe000+14000]
Segmentation fault
   That seems to me to be a problem with ncurses.
   I re-cooked ncurses, libtic and even libtinfo, libform, libmenu and libpanel.
   I also tried ncurses 6.3, lynx 2.9.0dev.9 (that runs fine in another distro). Always the segfault...
   Yet, retawq that has the same deps as lynx runs without any problem.
   Any ideas from where can come this issue?

   More curious:
   Same problem on one SliTaz whereas lynx-2.8.9rel1 works properly
   on another SliTaz.

   On both systems,
   lynx, ncurses, ncurses-common, libtic, libtinfo and zlib are
   installed with the same version (but probably from another
   compilation).

   The SliTaz where lynx works properly is installed on disk and
   was updated on 2022-03-25.

   The SliTaz where lynx crashes is a live system from 2022-01-21.

   A similar problem occurs with other programs that use ncurses,
   vbindiff for example.

   I too hope that someone finds the reason.

   Every package that needs ncurses-dev or ncursesw-dev to build has just been recooked (2022-04-05).

   Thank you for the interest you brougt at this problem.
   Still more curious, but maybe a hint?
   I did some tests with several ISOs and no one has the problem... excepted when I boot base???
   justX Gtk+ and Core works perfectly.
   Something wrong with rootfs4.gz?

   I think I made a mistake.
   It seems that lynx can run only from a terminal emulator with a X environment and not in a console.
   Am I wrong?

   It is not clear how to replicate the problem. With this way of defining rolling an iso that in fact always shows 5.0 (even if declared cooking) doesn't help for sure.
   I've tried on my own lynx installation and it fails, while on the live one it works...
   Lynx recompiled from the sources works also on the first one installed.
   If you want me to try it indicate with links which iso should be downloaded to test without further updates.

   Non si capisce come replicare il problema. Con questo modo di definire rolling una iso che di fatto riporta sempre e comunque 5.0 (anche se dichiarata cooking) non aiuta di sicuro.
   Ho provato su di una mia un'installazione lynx fallisce, mentre sulla live funziona...
   Lynx ricompilato dai sorgenti funziona anche su quella di prima installata.
   Se volete che ci provi indicate con dei link quali iso vanno scaricate per testare senza ulteriori aggiornamenti.

   Mi hai dato la soluzione: SliTaz usa ncurses; LFS invece usa ncursesw.
lynx compilato con la dependenza (?) ncursesw-dev e l'opzione --with-screen=ncursesw funziona buonissimo. Aggiungo la ricetta modificata al post.

   Per rispondere alla tua questione a proposito del(la?) ISO slitaz-rolling.iso è la sapore 4-in-1 della settimana. Puoi avviare base (console solamente, rootfs4.gz) o justX (rootfs4.gz è rootfs3.gz) o Gtk+ (rootfs4.gz, rootfs3.gz è rootfs2.gz) o Core (rootfs4.gz, rootfs3.gz, rootfs2.gz è rootfs1.gz).

   Ancora grazie. Bisognavo davvero un leggero web browser per la console.
   E come non sono sicuro che il mio italiano è buono, preferisco aggiungere la traduzione in inglese ;)
