I've tested your tip and it didn't work here.
Is there an alternative to skype on Slitaz?
I think, the best alternative is Linphone - it is available on all plattforms and and pricing for regular phonecalls is cheaper - e.g. http://www.tele33.de/ - the problem with linphone is, that it uses Port 5060 or 6000 - in free hotspots these ports are sometimes closed - so thats a very good alternative for home.
Then there is viber http://www.viber.com/ - used a lot on smartphones and for slitaz only possible through wine, because they have no linux 32bit version.
Viber uses different Ports as linphone TCP: 5242 and 4244 - UDP: 5243 and 9785 - and viber for me is a security problem, because viber collects adresses
Maybe it is possible to get an older version of windows skype with the mac trick and wine http://www.oldapps.com/de/skype.php
hi
i am not looking another alternative. i already gave up trying to make pulseaudio package for slitaz.
honestly i am willing to pay who can build pulseaudio for slitaz and make skype works.
if anyone interested i am openminded about it.
( i know this is not paid community, but this is emergency issue)
thanks
if it is emergency issue - try porteus http://build.porteus.org/
there is openbox and skype available - but idea, if it works there
Thanks, kultex! I'll test some of your tips.
Linphone does not work on my iso from last year - is it working on last rolling?
Please test http://cook.slitaz.org/cooker.cgi?pkg=pulseaudio
found some time to test linphone on rolling - it is ok, but does not find soundcard
@Pascal - can you try something in the receipt
./configure --enable-alsa and maybe also --enable-ssl --enable-zrtp for encrypted phonecalls
and I think it needs alsa-lib-dev in the build depends
tested also pulseaudio with skype - skype starts but then crashes with following error
tux@slitaz:~$ skype
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-open.c: 597: _dl_open: Assertion `_dl_debug_initialize (0, args.nsid)->r_state == RT_CONSISTENT' failed!
tux@slitaz:~$
Bellard,
Sorry, not tested yet.
Should we rebuild Qt with PulseAudio? Now it's disabled in the configuration. And Skype is a Qt based app, of course.
And I think we strongly need “pavucontrol” package (it's sound mixer). About month ago solved a problem with input source on my wife's Lubuntu for Skype — by default it chooses built-in soundcard's microphone (that is absent), but I needed microphone from USB web-cam. That time pavucontrol helps me ;)
Linphone works nice with the new browserinterface and firefox on SliTaz
so its the best skype alternativ - even when the sip ports are closed (all wlan hotspots I have tested the last days had no problem), you can use the browser interface
