Slitaz 3 - Wireless nao funciona no Sony Vaio VGN-FJ1S

Olá,
Wireless nao funciona no Sony Vaio VGN-FJ1S. Slitaz 3 live em pen disk. O conando tazhw detect-pci, detecta modulo instalado no kernel : ipw2200 . Nem na linha de comando nem no neworkmanager se consegue activar o wireless. Iwconfig diz que não há wilereless extensions . No network manager nao detecta redes nem liga através da introdução dos dados da rede nos favoritos. Já percorri os foruns sem encontrar solução. Alguém tem dicas ou devo reportar bug?
Nota o harware funciona bem e automaticamente em Lubuntu , Kubuntu, Knopix e Xp.

chegou a conferir se no resultado o lsmod aparece esse modulo carregado?

Olá, Obrigado pelas dicas e desculpem o atraso nas respostas mas estive ausente. As respostas abaixo são em simultâneo para Denilson-BR e dmatrix.
lspci -k indica dispositivo detetado e modulo carregado:
lsmod indica modulo existente e em uso
contudo não se forma wlan0 em /dev

pelo listado, muito provável que esteja faltando instalar o firmware do dispositivo:
