I created a SLITAZ 4.0 iso DVD with my notebook running win7, and on this PC it boots just fine, but when I use the same DVD in my desktop running winXP, it fails to boot, even though other bootable CD/DVD's boot ok on this desktop (therefore not a Bios boot config. problem). I read somewhere that SliTaz 4.0 core LiveCD provides in fact 4 versions and will use the one your hardware can support. Does that mean I have to create a another separate DVD for use only on the XP desktop, and save the first DVD only for use on the win7 notebook?
SLITAZ DVD boots ok in notebook running win7, not in desktop running winXP

Might be the kind of dvd disk.
There are DVD+R & DVD-R types, plus DVD+RW & DVD-RW.
Your XP machine might need a DVD-R, it may not read from any of the others.

Thanks for the reply, fatmac.
Do you know of a way I can verify in my PC's configuration which DVDs will work with my XP, other than wasting time trying to create more disks?
Also, I'd still like to know if SLITAZ 4.0 iso DVD created on a win7 PC, is compatible with another PC running winXP.

Nero InfoTool:

Probably the safest bet is an ordinary cd, that should work on anything.

To Mojo,
The Nero InfoTool you recommend seems specific to Nero, but I don't have Nero, I use ImgBurn to create iso CDs.To Fatmac,
The first disk I made was from the 35Mb download, and it was an ordinary cd, but it wasn't bootable, then I saw in the slitaz download mirror (http://www.slitaz.org/en/get/#stable)that the 35M download only creates a so-called "core LiveCD". Right under that is a much bigger 3,0 GIGAbyte download described as: "A bootable CDROM image of all available packages for the stable version is generated every day." Naturally, 3,0 GIGA is way too big to fit on a CD, so a DVD was the only option.Guys, I thank you so much for your help, but it seems so absurd that no one on the official slitaz forum is able to answer my original question;
"I'd like to know if SLITAZ 4.0 iso DVD created on a win7 PC, is compatible with another PC running winXP?"
It seems like a very basic question...Posted 11 years ago # -
"I'd like to know if SLITAZ 4.0 iso DVD created on a win7 PC, is compatible with another PC running winXP?"
It seems like a very basic question...The answer to your question is yes it is compatible but it won't work if the optical drive in the winxp computer can't read the DVD burned in the win 7 computers optical drive.
ImgBurn =>Mode=> Verify the DVD against the slitaz iso on WinXP to see if it's DVD optical drive can read the DVD you burned on the other computers DVD optical drive running win 7
ImgBurn=>Tools=>Drive=>Capabilities provides the same info as Nero InfoToolPosted 11 years ago #
