I'm trying to burn an iso so I can install the newest version but my cdrom isn't working.
Not sure what to do.

Trying to burn Install disc for rc-3 / Don't have read/write permission for CDROM, help?

It reads
"You don't have read write permission for /dev/cdrom;
Add yourself to group cdrom: addgroup tux cdrom"I tried to add myself in the group, not sure it worked though.

In terminal I did
addgroup "myusername" cdrom
nothing happened though.

I've never had issues with write permissions to cd/dvd drive with default user tux.
Since your using "myusername" this may be the problem.
If it's a permissions issue you should be able to logout of regular user's X session and login to X session as root and burn.Posted 13 years ago #
