Problems with the new cooking

I've used Slitaz since version 1 and recently have been using the xvesa variant because the xorg wouldn't work on my Dell inspiron 6400. I tried the new cooking and was pleased when it worked from a live cd with only a couple of problems.

When I install via tazusb to a usb drive  however I get more serious problems although I suspect it is probably my lack of real linux knowledge that is stopping me fix them.

The system will fail to log in as tux when started from the usb drive although I can get in as root so I presume I should be able to get tux working, where should I look to fix this/ or for help fixing it?

Also when I try to save the filesystem on logout I get an error "can't execvp '/usr/bin/tazusb : no such file or directory" When I look the file appears to be there.... a bit frustrating after I'd got the wireless working.

Hope someone can help me fix these problems and thanks in advance!

Try install package linux-without-modules and configure manually grub for start. see if it starts the graphic. http://pkgs.slitaz.org/cooking/base-system.html#linux-without-modules

Thanks for the idea, I'll try later on today but it is starting OK with a GUI just not working for TUX and not allowing me to save at logout. I can manually create a new rootfs.gz but not using the check boxes on the logout page.

For info my problem was being caused by my usb drive being formatted as fat32 and therefore being unable to preserve permissions, all works when I format the drive to ext3!
