VMware View Client

Hi,

I'm trying to get the VMware View Client (from Ubuntu 12.04) to work with SliTaz. In SliTaz 4.0 there are a few compatibility problems so I tried SliTaz 3.0 which has libssl 0.9.8 for example. I installed zenity and tried to start vmware-view and got a Segmentation Fault.

Did some one try to get VMware View Client working with SliTaz ot knows how to get it work?

Michael

Re: VMware View Client

Sorry, the Segfault comes on SliTaz 4.0 with some symlinks for libssl and libcrypto.

With SliTaz 3.0 I get:

vmware-view.bin: symbol lookup error: vmware-view.bin: undefined symbol: gtk_info_bar_get_type

VMware View Client needs libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.24.0) and SliTaz 3.0 brings only 2.16. Is there a way to upgrade GTK to 2.24?

Re: VMware View Client

OK, I got VMware View Client working in SliTaz 4.0!

If someone is interessted:

- Take SliTaz 4.0

- install zenity

- install libssl-0.9.8 and libcrypto-0.9.8 from Slitaz 3.0 (download the tazpkg and do "tazpkg install libssl-0.9.8l.tazpkg --forced")

- download vmware-view-client-2.2.0 from Ubuntu 12.04

- convert vmware-view-client deb to tazpkg using "tazpkg convert vmware-view-client-2.2.0.....deb"

- install vmware-view-client using "tazpkg install vmware-view-client-2.2.0.....tazpkg"

- run it using "vmware-view"

Now I have to build an SliTaz image which I can use on our Workstations.

Actually I'm not sure weather USB and everything is working... I'll try.

EDIT: Kernel too old or something... Same problem like TinyCore Linux <= 4.0. On boot I get kernel panic on the real workstation. On VirtualBox it works great.

Re: VMware View Client

Sorry for late answer, just back from china.

Actually for me it works. It boots and vmware view client works too. We will now set up some test PCs to see if it is stable enough.

It is actually running on a Dell Optiplex GX620 (Pentium D I think), on a Lenovo ThinkCentre m72e (Core i3 3xxx) and an old selfmade PC with Pentium 4.

I use SliTaz 4.0 as "kitchen" and build a ISO with tazlito based on "justx" distro.

If you are interrested, I can post the packagelist and perhaps some extra stuff I added to the image.
