Stripping SliTaz Down

Now that I have my SliTaz install stable and for its purpose as a music server all of the players are working and making sound, I'll be spending this weekend experimenting with what I can do to strip out parts of the installation, without breaking it as a music player. 

Mostly I'll be uninstalling packages in the package manager and checking to see if it's still functioning after.  I don't need things like Internet in this boot section.  Are there any specific packages that are essential for the OS stability that might not be obvious?

Also, can I uninstall the pacman file manager and still maintain the music player function.  Any reworking of the music folders/library can be done in Ubuntu, on the same drive, so all I want to do with SliTaz is open the player and launch files.

You know, fork, there is actually a Linux designed to be just a jukebox now that I think about it. It's called VortexBox and you should maybe give it a look over: http://vortexbox.org/about

Yes, I've seen Vortex Box.  My company, Jaguar Audio Design, designs and builds servers for our clients.  Before switching to Linux I was using Windows 7 and had pretty much exhausted the potential for mods and tweaks.  We still offer our fully tweaked Win 7 OS, but I think our Linux machine, specifically the SliTaz boot section, will outperform Windows.  The Vortex is a multimedia machine, which is similar to the Ubuntu boot section of our machine, but our real focus is our audio boot section with SliTaz, which is designed solely for the highest performance with playback of audio files.

I think it is better to try to start with justx and install all the packages you need
