SpaceFM error on new installation

I am a total noob, but willing to learn.

Computer : Dell Latitude CPx

Processor : Pentium III ( Coppermine )

Memory    : 253 MB  ( 57MB used )

Kernel       : Linux 3.2.53 slitaz ( i686)

Downloaded different and burnt a couple of versions of Slitaz and this version seemed to work best. Everything just worked ( except wireless dongle, not important and will work to figure that out). However, on second boot received the following message :

SpaceFM requires genuine /bin/bash (V4+) to be installed. Other shells are NOT equivalent.

Being a nob, I have no idea what this means or what to do. Is it important, as everything seems to still work well. Is this version suitable for this old of a computer? I do not mind making a mistake, as all it means is a fresh install and starting over.

Thanks for your efforts, makes this thing fly, wish I had tried a flavor of Linux long ago. Beats anything Microsoft

that I have ever used.

See http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/spacefm-new-root-window-failure and kultex' answer

this version seemed to work best

What version of SliTaz? Last Rolling iso (17/04/2014)?

Slitaz Gnu Linux  ( Hardinfo) System Information.

My understanding now is that the version I have is cooking and that it is constantly revised ( updated ? ) and my experience level I should have a stable version?

I also downloaded Slitaz core 4 in 1, and tried installing it first but screen resolution was wrong at reboot and took me awile to figure out how  to get into anything as there was no application icon. But it worked as  well. Is it a more stable version, as I could go back to it and figure the screen resolution out. Just looking for suggestions on the best way to start out, don't mind stumbling or wearing egg as I figure it out. Thanks.

Re: SpaceFM error on new installation

SliTaz 4.0 is the latest stable.

Cooking is an intermediate release but today, Rolling is much better (my opinion).

Rolling is daily upgraded but not yet stable.

I use rolling regularly and don´t have major problem with it but as say kultex, rolling is rolling...

HI all,

Just wanted to notice that 5.0 will use PcmanFM with Trashcan and automount working out-of-thebox!

Re: SpaceFM error on new installation

Seems like the best course of action. Maybe replace Openbox with XFCE4's windows manager to create a better look - similiar to what Peppermint Linux and Lubuntu are doing.
