A first look at 5.0rc1
5.0rc1 burned onto CD, boot as Live-CD lang=US
I can not eject the CD with the CD-Drive eject button.
rightclick on the Desktop > open Folder > tux = Error
/home/tux/~: No such file or directory
open pcmanfm,CD-Drive with the boot-CD in it,is not shown,
only the 2nd drive.To get the CD out of the Drive I had to open
a Terminal > su to root and then eject /dev/sr0.Even after that
the sr0 Drive is not shown only the 2nd (sr1) Drive.
(log in/out or CD put in/out..no effect.
No Hdd Partitions shown in pcmanfm,not for tux or root

no Desktop Effects
The mouse-pointer dissappears on menues e.g.Applications or when
dragging around a window e.g.Leafpad.(The mouse-pointer become visible
again if I move the mouse).If I log out/in it work again for a minute or two.
If I (left) click a Checkbox or in a text window the pointer is gone.
booted with lang=US, now tried Preferences > Keyboard mapping and also
System Tools > Config Dialogs to set the Keybord to de-latin1, log out/in
but did not set to DE.
I had not much time today, stay tuned..

Just downloaded & run through the menu items, all but gcalc & shortcut editor opened up OK.
Appears to be a problem with Jamendo Music regarding flash. Alsamixer didn't open, but I didn't add sound to the qemu start up line. (It flashed on screen, so I guess it couldn't find the mixer.)
Looking good otherwise.

Just using 5.0 RC1
1. Boot log throws off an error:
Processing: /etc/init.d/system.sh
Setting default mixer volumes... amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory
Done
Running : # setmixer
after desktop loads fixes
2. <hr> tags showing up in slitaz panel: Detect PCI and USB hardware
changing 'separator' in /lib/libtaz.sh to just: echo "=====" X 80 fixes (for me anyway)
3. 'eject' command only works as root? I tried chmod 666 /dev/sr0 but as soon as I install another CD it reverts
back to: brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 0 May 2 22:27 /dev/sr0

It seems gvfs+udisks is now void eating of memory. I copied rebuild fstab busybox script from my previuos distro (t.core), will try to run it here.

Great!!! But no atheros firmware included into /lib/firmware...
Another question: Why ithe iso image have 2 kernels files (bzimage and vmlinuz-3.2...) ?

usb flash drive is not mounting automatically in pcmanfm.
But it's possible mannually by running command "mount /dev/sdb1 /media/usbdisk".

Had to leave for ten days. Just took time to download rc1 iso.
Can test only from Live or frugal install (only my professional computer with me).
Probably most of the items below will have already reported but I don´t have any internet here otherwise on my phone (not even a smartphone).
Here is my feedback-story. Hope the txt file will be attached.

note:
- "configuring loopback" takes too long, about a minute on boot
- while using midori it quits accidentally (after minimizing i guess)
- can't install on hdd via network - "can't download iso" or error something like this

- apps->prefferences -> time zone
setting up correct location doesn't affect system time. Still minus 3 hours.

my two biggest issues:
usb devices do not automount
no internal hard drives found
galculator does not start. I had to install it.
could not log in to my web mail provider (gmx) with midori, which worked just fine before.. weird.

El live se abre razonablemente rápido.
-Internet (ethO) detecta automáticamente y funciona bien.
-GParted detecta correctamente las particiones pero:
-no se montan ni aparecen dichas particiones existentes,
-tampoco los usb,
-y el sonido tampoco está.

@paul - why are you using still spacefm - your problems might be caused by the new bash depency of spacefm???

from man: polkitd provides the org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1 D-Bus service on the system message bus. Users or administrators 'should never need to start' this daemon as it 'will be automatically started' by dbus-daemon(1) or systemd(1) whenever an application calls into the service.
Since 5.0-RC1 it is not still running!
Exactly here is problem with mounting, not groups. Even without permissions volumes should be on panel.

right, just tried new slitaz 5 rc1, five mins test, nothing worth switch, v 4 still much more stable.. 
e.g. bad points: failed to load wifi firmware, almasound run/crashes, sound modules loaded but no sound, pcmanfm doesn't show mountable drives(needs manual mount), bugged beaver and sakura still there, still no regdom support, ........
GOOD points: russian-doll is wonderful, X seems faster, boot seems faster, ram still under 200 megs, leafpad seems not bugged (in old replace-all doesnt replace but just add after), shiny new kernel (hope CRYPTO_CCM,eeprom_93cx6,and ipv6 has been added ????!!!!!
There is a bug in 5.0-rc1 in file [c]/etc/init.d/rcS[/c]
Comparing to old file with date Mar26, methods of daemons loading changed. So, now dbus starting in multiple instances and not able to start as daemon.
Command [c]mkdir /var/run/dbus[/c] from old [c]/etc/init.d/rcS[/c] before running [c]/etc/init.d/dbus start[/c] fixing this.

@kultex: I think it was all down to the problems with the slitaz-boot-script not building (which is now fixed in the repo) mentioned in this post also by mojo:

slitaz-boot-scripts-5.5 on the repo has the section removed from /etc/init.d/bootopts.sh which adds user tux on boot to groups audio cdrom video tty plugdev
It was added back,tagged 5.5.1,commit in wok but failed to build.
