password not working plus accessing samba shares

I just installed the latest stable Slitaz version. This is a new distro for me. I have a couple of issues.

When I try to type in my password to install software, the user and password are not recognized. I keep getting prompted to renter my credentials.

The other thing is how do I access my samba shares. What do I need to do?

To be more specific, I am unable to access the tazpanel. I type in my password credentials and all I get is the same window for me to enter my credentials.

You need to log into tazpanel as root.
