Hi,

I did some quick avatar for SCN groups with the Tango icons, if someone would like to make some better one or discuss about that, please post here. You can upload your images here or as document in the Artwork group.

Yes, but what is the source of the avatars automatically assigned to members when they join the forum?

Register with Gravatar. It works with the e-mail address you use during the registration process. The username @ gravatar doesn't really matter so pick anything you want. Just remember to add and authenticate all e-mail address you use with it. Then if a site supports gravatar, it will automatically set your avatar for you after you register.
