volume applet in lxpanel

When I want to decrease the volume using the volume control applet in the lxpanel, nothing happens. That's because it decreases "master", instead of "pcm". How can I change that, please ? (I searched a lot yesterday on the web, but found nothing usefull... just a few results to bind some keys to increase/decrease, but no hint to change default output in lxpanel).

Thanks for your ideas...

There is no easy way to do this without recompiling lxpanel completely. Alternatively, you could use another panel instead (like xfce4-panel) or a volume mixer program like alsamixer or xfce4-mixer to alter these settings.

and what about telling the system that it's "master" that must command the volume, and not "pcm" ? Is it possible ?

Maybe using something like http://alsa.opensrc.org/How_to_use_softvol_to_control_the_master_volume#Common_example_with_dmix ?

I do not understand well this .asoundrc thing... So I decided to go on with the keybinding and it's ok. Not very sexy, but it works smile

Basically, all you had to do was create a text file with the name .asoundrc with the above example in it, put it in your home folder and restart the computer.
