Re: New Slitaz Install

For the Screen resolution, do the following:

1.) Open xterm (or any terminal emulator)

2.) su to root (su, press enter/return and enter your root password [default being root])

3.) Make sure your online and type tazx

4.) Click on xorg Install or Reconfigure Xorg and click OK

5.) Wait for it to download everything and pops up the next menu, then click on Intel and click OK.

6.) Back to xterm type wget http://www.trixarian.net/downloads/lxrandr.tazpkg and press enter

7.) Once the Download has ended type tazpkg install lxrandr.tazpkg to install it.

8.) After that's done, you just go to Menu---> Preferences---> Monitor Settings and click the resolution you want.

As for Firefox, go to http://www.trixarian.net/SliTaz and download Firefox 4.0, install it with tazpkg install firefox-4.0.tazpkg (use xterm again - just make sure firefox-4.0.tazpkg is in your home folder) and then go to Help--->About and it should start downloading the latest version of Firefox. If it doesn't, click the Look for Update button. After it has completed the download, just click Apply Update button that appears and you will be on Firefox 9.0

Hi Trixar_za

I now have a screen resolution of 1024 768 and an upto date Firefox browser. Thanks for the help mate. I shall now have a SliTaz Linux OS to be proud of and all thanks to you!

Re: New Slitaz Install

I created a custom Firefox 9.0.1 with flash 11 support. You can download from here:

https://fs.hlrs.de/projects/live-ptd/index.html

NOTE: remove existing libfirefox and get-flash-plugin packages as they use older libraries.

Re: New Slitaz Install

My Firefox doesn't include libfirefox and it uses the upgrade package of firefox to work. You could probably tazpkg extract it, add /usr/lib/firefox-9 instead of /usr/lib/firefox-4 as the main folder and just tazpkg pack it again. Hell, you could probably add libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ and add flash support. I'm just not rebuilding it - I said as much when I created it tongue
